APPLICATIONS OF OUR PRODUCTS

Our products are used in wide range of industry. It is very difficult to mention even 10 % of applications over here. We have mentioned only few and very common applications over here. Basically our products are used to control mechanical power which intern is transmitted through rotating shaft. In simple words our products are used to “start and stop” rotating shaft using electromagnetism. To simplify explanation of each of our major product category, we have made separate paragraph for each of major product category.

BRAKE Brake is used to stop rotating shaft immediately. There are two major types of brake.A. Failsafe brake B. Electrically applied brake Now we shall discuss both of them.

A.Failsafe brake. (Available models)

In failsafe brake, brake is applied using spring force .This brake is released by supplying electrical power. Therefore as long as electricity is not supplied to the brake, brake remains applied. Therefore incase of undesired electrical power failure, LOAD will remain locked and thus an accident is prevented. Hence this type of brake is called Failsafe brake. Typical application of this type of brake would be in escalator used in multi-storied building, tower crane used to lift heavy load on bridge construction site, lifting mechanism of sluice-gate on water dam.

B.Electrically applied brake (Available models)

When electricity is supplied to brake, brake is applied. And when electricity is not supplied, brake is not applied and hence shaft is free to rotate. This type of brake is widely used in all machines where frequent ON / OFF operations are there. Typical example would be filling cold drink in a bottle (in an automated bottling plant ). Here conveyor carrying empty bottles is required to stop and start for every single bottle. Here empty bottle must stop exactly in front of filling nozzle. Electrically applied brake is used to stop conveyor belt instantaneously and at desired position.

Clutch is basically used to engage and disengage load from driving motor. When clutch is disengaged, driving motor is freed from load and load is not connected to driving motor anymore. As soon as clutch is engaged, load gets connected to driving motor. Typical application of electrically applied clutch is filling cold drink in a bottle ( In an automated bottling plant). In this type of application it is not advisable to switch on and switch off induction motor for every single bottle. (If we do this then electric motor will get overloaded resulting in reduced life of the motor). To avoid this, an electrically applied clutch is put between conveyor and electric motor. Whenever conveyor is to be moved, clutch is engaged. Whenever conveyor is to be stopped, instead of switching off electric motor, clutch is simply disengaged. Again when conveyor is to be moved, clutch is engaged. Thus electric motor never stops rotating and conveyor load gets connected to motor while induction motor shaft is rotating at almost synchronous speed. This increases motor life drastically.

CBC is commonly used to start and stop driven shaft instantaneously. Typical example would be filling cold drink in a bottle (In an automated bottling plant ). Here conveyor carrying empty bottles is required to stop and start for every single bottle. Empty bottle is required to stop exactly in front of the filling nozzle and as long as bottle is being filled, conveyor should be stand still. Again as soon as bottle is filled completely, conveyor should start moving immediately. There might be some 20 bottles being filled in one minute. So conveyor must start and stop instantaneous and conveyor should be locked when it is not moving. All these requirements can be easily met by installing CBC between conveyor and driving motor.

Normally electrically applied brake is used in CBC. But failsafe brake can also be used in CBC. For further details about CBC with failsafe brake, kindly contact us directly.

SQUIRELL CAGE INDUCTION MOTOR (Available models)

Squirell cage induction motor is the most popular motor in industry. Typical application would be motors used in crane , hoist, irrigation water pump, lathe machine. Depending upon mounting arrangement, there are two types of motor.

A. Foot mounting motor
B. Flange mounting motor.

Here brake is mounted directly on non driving end of motor shaft. Mostly failsafe brake is used in brake motor. Therefore when electricity is supplied to brake motor, brake is released and motor shaft starts rotating. And when electricity is not supplied to brake motor, motor shaft stops rotating (motor shaft is locked because of failsafe brake). Because of this feature, Brake motor is widely used in material handling machines. E.g. crane, hoist, lift,

ELECTROHYDRAULIC THRUSTOR(Available model)

ELECTRO HYDRAULIC THRUSTOR

This works on pressurized oil. Oil pressure is created by induction motor. Very compact induction motor is placed inside thrustor tank. When electricity is supplied to thrustor, very compact induction motor drives impeller. Impeller creates oil pressure. This pressurized oil pushes piston and piston pushes up LOAD. As soon as electricity is discontinued , oil is de-pressurized and piston comes back to initial position. This thrustor is widely used in electrohydraulic thrustor brake. Please note that as compared to electromagnetic brake , electrohydraulic thrustor brake takes more time ( say 400 mili-seconds to 900 mili-seconds ) to actuate. As per requirement ,this actuation time can be increased also. Therefore as compared to electromagnetic brake, electrohydraulic thrustor brake is applied slowly. Therefore electrohydraulic thrustor brake is always used whenever gradual / sluggish braking is required. Typical application of electrohydraulic thrustor brake is horizontal moving load in cross-travel mechanism of tower crane. If this horizontal moving load is stopped instantaneously, load starts oscillating just like pendulum. To avoid this, electrohydraulic thrustor brake is used. When electrohydraulic thrustor brake is used, load is stopped slowly and not instantaneously. Thus pendulum type oscillations are avoided by using sluggish braking action of electrohydraulic thrustor brake.

Flame proof covers are used to isolate our other products ( e.g. failsafe dc brake ) from its surroundings. This is mandatory incase of some installation places where highly inflammable gas is being processed. For example petroleum gas refinery, compressed natural gas fuel station , coal mine etc.
